Aging and Sleep

I was never much of a sleeper. I would sleep don't get me wrong, but it wasn't a priority, and I definitely don't remember feeling tired that often. As I have gotten older however, it seems to get harder all the time, ironically at the exact point of my life that I feel I need it the most! There are a few things that help, but overall, it has definitely become quite the struggle. I know I am not alone in this, and I am thankful that my situation is not more severe.

I am finding myself more curious about the use of hormones as I am now a few years into my 40's. I am not feeling the most confident in the quality of medical care, if I were to consider this option. For now, I am making do with my Bedjet, my sleep mask, my magnesium supplements, and hope!

Sleep is so important for us! I am someone who needs a lot of sleep to function. I’m about to turn 36 this month and have found myself needing naps. It doesn’t help though that I wake up in the middle of the night repeatedly worrying about my ostomy bag (which is new-ish to me due to a flesh eating bacteria on my backside months ago) and if it’s ok or needs emptied or has burst or anything. I miss getting a good nights sleep!
